THE SHORT READ

What to keep in mind.

  • Symptoms such as tiredness are not specific to low testosterone.
  • Diagnosis considers symptoms alongside appropriate blood tests.
  • SelfTest does not provide TRT assessment or treatment.

Start with the question, not the label

Changes in energy, sleep, mood or sex drive can have several explanations. The NHS cautions that symptoms often described as a “male menopause” are not necessarily caused by hormones.

Write down what has changed, when you noticed it and how it affects everyday life. That makes a more useful starting point than deciding on a diagnosis from a headline.

Symptoms are not a hormone result

A clinician may consider your health, symptoms and circumstances and arrange blood tests where appropriate. A diagnosis of testosterone deficiency is not made from a symptom list alone.

A home screening product should not be treated as a prescription decision or as a replacement for that clinical assessment.

Where TRT fits

If specialist assessment confirms testosterone deficiency, a clinician may discuss treatment. TRT is not a general wellness purchase and is not an automatic next step after a home test.

Before starting any treatment, ask the prescribing clinician about suitability, risks, monitoring and your personal goals. SelfTest does not currently offer a TRT service.

Choose information you can act on responsibly

Ask what a test measures, what further assessment could be needed and who will help interpret it. Those questions are more useful than searching for a universal “optimal” result.

Our test finder explains screening options and when professional advice comes first. It does not diagnose hormone deficiency or recommend treatment.
